Movie Review – Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa
Last weekend after office me and my colleagues went for Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa on the first day of it’s screening here in U.A.E. It’s the second installment of the hugely popular animated movie Madagascar released in 2005.
Firstly, the movie is by leaps and bounds better than the first installment. If you enjoyed the first you will definitely love the sequel. And incase you havn’t watched the first part, there is not much connection between the two, and if any it has been clearly shown in this movie. So you can carry on and watch this installment without actually watching the first part.
By better what I mean is this movie is more funny, has a much better storyline, has more emotional touch than the first installment and has many new characters. To fit the story in a nutshell (& hence, sparing all the potential movie goers) this is the story of four friends belonging to New York Zoo along with their accomplices, of how they escape Madagascar and end up reaching the African Jungle, only to find their respective natural roots. Along the way they laugh, they cry, but mostly they make a life out of it. That is what Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa is all about. It’s about taking chances and living your life to the fullest.
The dialogues are definitely what takes away the cake most of the times. It is the dialogues that make the situation funny. Hats off to the writers. To others annoyance I was clapping at most of the dialogues, especially the ones in the latter half of the movie. Acting or rather voice of all the characters are just perfect, with just the correct rhythm, timing & feel. My personal favourite is King Julien (definitely one of the funniest animated characters ever) as well as the Penguin Quad-Pack!
To summarize I give this movie 4.5 on 5 (0.5 less only cause my favourite character King Julien did not have a lot of footage). Do go for this movie to have a great fun and chilled out time. It’s worth it.

I’m such a fan of the first one, I didn’t think it
could be outdone. But sure enough, this one
manages to shine very bright, and is far better.
Great review !
